1st album by asobiyoshi

"asobi" means "play" in Japanese, and "asobiyoshi" means "you'd better play around" in Kyoto dialect.
The concept of this band is "playing around in the frame of jazz"

Pianist Yugo Nagata has been exploring how to express his original sound through jazz standards, and this album indicates where he is now.

You can find lots of recordings of all standards recorded in this album, including the Beatles' tune "blackbird", but once you listen, then you'll definitely find that Yugo's arrangement totally differs from those.

Vocalist Shoko Hirano has notable talent which gives originality to this album. Her voice changes depending on the sound, using clear voice, powerful voice, soft voice and much more.

Bassist Shunya Wakai is one of the most important bassists in Japan.
He's been participating in many jazz bands including Kei Akagi Trio, May Inoue Group, Shota Watanabe trio etc..

After drummer Yujiro Nakamura graduated from Berklee School of music, he moved to New York and he played there for more than decade.
His expressive play in this album, which is so effective on Yugo's arrangements, is definitely based on the experience in New York.

ジャズの枠内で新しい形を模索し続けるピアニスト/アレンジャーの永田有吾が施した定番のジャズスタンダードやビートルズのナンバーの現代的なアレンジを、ボーカル平野翔子が透明感溢れる歌声で、またときには力強く、バリエーション豊かなスタイルで歌い上げる渾身のデビュー作

ベースにはケイ赤城トリオや井上銘グループなど様々なバンドに参加し、活動の場を世界に広げる若井俊也
ドラムにはバークリー音楽院を卒業後ニューヨークで長年活動し、現在では関西ジャズシーンにおける最重要ドラマーの一人である中村雄二郎を迎え、
強力なサイドメンとともにasobiyoshiの唯一無二の世界観をジャズという枠を通して表現している



永田有吾 Yugo Nagata: piano
1989年西宮市生まれ。 米国短期留学を機にジャズに傾倒。2011年、大学在学中にデビュー作『ゼニス・アンド・ネイダー』をリリース。 同世代のメンバーと全曲オリジナルで挑んだ本作は、「平成生まれのジャズ」としてシーンに新風を吹き込む。2017年に平野翔子との双頭ユニット「asobiyoshi」を結成。

平野翔子 Shoko Hirano: vocal
高校時代は芸能プロダクションに所属。ドラマ・映画に出演する傍ら音楽活動を始める。植村典生氏に師事し、歌唱・音楽理論などを学ぶ。2017年に1stミニアルバムを発売。現在はジャズとポップスを軸に、年間約300本の演奏活動を展開。幅広い音楽にフィットする力強い歌声に定評がある。

若井俊也 Shunya Wakai: bass
1988年名古屋市生まれ。 東京の若手シーンで頭角を現し、2013年にケイ赤城氏のトリオに加入。国内外のツアーとアメリカでのレコーディングに参加。渡辺翔太トリオ、井上銘グループなど同世代のバンドでも活躍するなど、引く手数多のベーシスト。2019年より洗足学園音楽大学非常勤講師。

中村雄二郎 Yujiro Nakamura: drums
東京都出身。高校卒業後、名門バークリー音楽院へ入学。在学中に恩師ジョン・ラムキンの後釜として「Wally’s Jazz Cafe」のハウスドラマーに抜擢。卒業後は拠点をニューヨークに移し、ハウスドラマー、チャーチドラマーとして活躍。2016年に帰国。関西を拠点に精力的に活動中。
